Resident Evil 6

3 years ago Resident Evil 5 was released with mixed feelings and complaints were made about the control system and left fans worried about the new direction the series was heading in. Fast forward to October 2012 and we have the sequel, Resident Evil 6.

With the return of many familiar faces, Resident Evil 6 allows players to control 3 main characters that serve as the games main protagonists. Resident Evil 6 will allow players to select between three scenarios with connected storylines, each with their own intentionally different design.

1st Scenario = Leon S. Kennedy partnered with Helena Harper

2nd Scenario = Chris Redfield partnered with Piers Nivans

3rd Scenario = Jake Muller partnered with Sherry Birkin

Fans of the original PlayStation Resident Evil games will not be disappointed as Leon's scenario will bring back the horror which made this series famous for. The helpless feeling of being stuck in confined buildings with hordes of zombies attacking you are present again in RE6 and so are the fun puzzles!! The opening of doors and watching it slowly slide open not knowing what will jump at you from the other side is always a plus when playing horror games.

A 4th Scenario is unlocked after the player finishes the first three scenarios and the player gets to control Ada Wong. With a completely new control and inventory system, RE6 has a development staff of more than 600, making it Capcom's biggest production to date.

One of the new features of RE6 is the cross multiplayer feature where 4 players can play together online to kill a boss or progress further into the story. When players reach a certain point of the game, 2 players from a particular scenario will be paired with another 2 players from another scenario.

Primary enemies include zombies and the newly introduced J'avo. Resident Evil 6 is available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 on 28th September 2012 in Australia, 2nd October 2012 in the US and in Europe while Japanese fans get it on the 4th October 2012. Also it is scheduled to be released on Microsoft Windows but as of now there is no confirmed released date.

iPhone 5 - It's Almost Here

The wait is over!! Apple's PR department has sent emails to the media inviting them to an "invitation-only" event in San Francisco on Wednesday, 12th September 2012. The event is held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts which is the traditional home of major Apple product launches and is where it unveiled the latest iPad in March.

Just like previous invites it has a cryptic clue, the teaser shows the number 12 which represents the date of the Apple event but the shadow that the number casts clearly shows the number 5. Apple is implying that the next iPhone will indeed be called the iPhone 5.

If you haven't been keeping up with the rumours of the iPhone 5, here is a quick summary of what's been going around the Internet these past few months:

  • new two-tone uni-body design
  • a smaller redesigned dock connector
  • 4G LTE
  • 4-inch display
  • in-cell technology for displays
  • A6 chip
  • redesigned earphones
  • NFC (near field communication)
Although these are only rumours but it can be certain that the iPhone 5 will come with an improved Siri, better battery, nano sim slot and iOS 6. Besides the iPhone 5, another interesting thing will be if the event also introduces the rumoured iPad mini and/or refreshed iPod nanos and iPod touches.

Oh and the fabled iTV? Let's forget about that for a while because I don't think that is coming any time soon!
I'm ready Apple, I'm ready for the iPhone 5, SO TAKE MY MONEY!!

The Superman returns in "Man of Steel"

After the end of the Dark Knight trilogy, a new beginning for Spiderman and a big party with the Avengers, comes the reboot of the Superman film series. Titled "Man of Steel", it is an upcoming superhero film with a slated release date of June 14, 2013. Man of Steel is under the development of director Zack Snyder and will be produced by Christopher Nolan, the same person that directed the Batman film series consisting of Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.

Actor Henry Cavill will play the lead role of Clark Kent / Superman and actress Amy Adams will play as Lois Lane, love interest of Clark Kent. Nothing much is known about the story as of now but being a reboot it should explore Superman's origins.

"The Dark Knight Rises" in cinemas

There was Batman Begins (2005), then The Dark Knight (2008) and now we have The Dark Knight Rises (2012). This latest installment is intended to be the conclusion of director Christopher Nolan's Batman film series. Christian Bale reprises the lead role of Bruce Wayne/Batman, with a returning cast of Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as James Gordon and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox. The Dark Knight Rises also introduces the characters of Selina Kyle and Bane—portrayed by Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy, respectively.

Likes its predecessors, The Dark Knight Rises still has a dark and realistic tone to it which has been received positively. The movie continues on from The Dark Knight and the story focuses on Batman who is now hunted by the law led by his friend Commissioner Gordon for taking the blame of Harvey Dent's murders and protecting his reputation. Batman also deals with the arrival of the new villain Bane who is bent on the destruction and chaos of Gotham City.

Anne Hathaway's performance in The Dark Knight Rises is very impressive, especially in a scene where she turns her character from an innocent woman into the witty con artist and thief Catwoman in a blink of an eye. However, one big problem that I had throughout the whole movie experience was the character Bane. The voice, effect and the way Bane speaks in the movie made it very hard for me to understand what he was trying to say and in a few occasions I did not even know what words came out of his mouth / mask.

The first hour of The Dark Knight Rises is similar to Batman Begins in the sense that Bruce Wayne must face old wounds, overcome his past and heal himself both mentally and physically to become Batman again. Fans will be happy to see the return of the batmobiles (called the Tumbler), the Batcycle (Batpod) and a new "Bat vehicle". With a running time of 165 minutes, The Dark Knight is never boring and keeps the viewer engaged with plot twists, witty jokes, battle scenes and an ending that may leave fans wanting another sequel!

I really really wanted to add some spoilers but that would just be too cruel of me :P

This will get your Spider-Sense tingling !!

The new Spider-Man movie starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors, is a reboot of the Spider-Man film franchise. With a fresh new cast and fresh new start for the Spider-Man universe it has successfully delivered what fans have wanted but in a totally different way.

Similar to its predecessors, the story focuses on Peter Parker's life in high school, how he becomes Spider-Man and his secret crush on a girl in one of his classes. However, what makes The Amazing Spider-Man different is that this time it is set in a much darker environment and gives off a darker feel much like what Christopher Nolan did to the Batman film series.

Without giving too much away, The Amazing Spider-Man shows how Peter Parker deals with loss and gain, love, power and death. In the midst of going through these emotions and his new found powers, Spider-Man must also face his enemy and the antagonist of the film, the Lizard. With Marc Webb as director, a new design of the spandex Spider-Man suit and cool mechanical devices for shooting webs, it is definitely worth seeing for die-hard Spider-Man fans and also for casual moviegoers.

Like other Marvel hero movies, stay after the credits for a hidden scene!!

The Amazing Spider-Man.......truly amazing   (^_^)
